Meet our Visual Communications Designer, Brian Almond, who has been at Graham for 5.5 years.

⭐ What does a typical day look like for you? My projects often vary from day to day, but my objective stays consistent. I creatively transform information into visuals that capture attention, simplify complex ideas, and drive understanding.

⭐What do you enjoy most about your job? One day I’m designing posters, the next I could be producing a video. That variety is what I love most about my work. I get to constantly flex my creativity and discover new ways to communicate and bring ideas to life.

⭐What’s something people might not expect about what you do? Design is supposed to be simple to understand, so there can be a misconception that the work is also simple. But before a first draft is even started, there is often research, strategic planning and problem-solving to ensure the messaging is received with the intended reaction.

⭐What are you most proud of in your work? When you first start off as a young designer, you often question what kind of impact you will make. At Graham, I have created assets around our Blue Culture, Safety Culture, Quality Culture, and more. Knowing that these are displayed all over North America, South America and Europe, I am proud that my work plays a role in furthering our One Graham strategic pillar in meaningful ways. Plus, it’s fun to say to my friends, “my designs are known around the world.”

⭐Anything else you’d like to share about your team or role? Just some encouragement for all the problem solvers out there. Creativity takes time, your first idea is rarely your final draft. Keep exploring, questioning, and revising and you will find your answers. It’s all in the process.
