Philadelphia Alumni Writers House is excited to announce F&M's first Banned Books Fair! The Friday, Feb. 21 event is the brainchild of junior Teagan Durkin and the "Who's Afraid of Banned Books Committee" at the Writers House and the F&M Library. It is co-sponsored by F&M Book Club and the Writing Center.

"Our goals for this event are twofold: to spread awareness about rising book censorship in the U.S. and to support our local bookstores and authors whose works are being banned," writes
Kerry Sherin Wright, Writers House director.

Booksellers will include Aaron's Books, the F&M Barnes & Noble College Bookstore, Nooks Gallery & Bookstore, Pocket Books Shop, and Read Rose Books. Books for sale will include classics, graphic lit, science writing and nonfiction, q***r lit, and African American/American lit and history.

The first 100 students who visit the Fair will each receive a voucher valid for the purchase of up to $20 of book(s). Books will also be for sale by cash and charge, and we'll be raffling off a basket of banned and challenged books.

📖🏡Hello! We are so proud to have completed our first year of reading retreats! In collaboration with The Hollinger House we are excited to announce something special for 2025! We have a series of retreats throughout the next year filled with all the things you already love, like a great meal, an opportunity for creative expression, a chance to immerse yourself in reading and most importantly a time to connect with others, building a sense of community.

We curated this series with the readers in mind! Each session adds its own unique experience to our reading retreats. There will also be a deluxe reading retreat that features an all inclusive book fair! Make sure to add one or all of the dates to your 2025 calendar! If you are ordering tickets as a gift for the book lover in your life, we will have certificates available!
