We absolutely loved hosting a student group from Franklin and Marshall College last week. The students were part of "Reckoning with Lancaster" seminar on the question of "Refugees, Migrants, and the Question of Welcome." Students dug into our archives to find decades worth of material of congregations welcoming refugees including New Holland Mennonite, Forest Hills Mennonite, and Metzler Mennonite churches. From welcoming Russian Mennonite refugees after World War 2, to Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s to welcoming Afghani families after the United States withdrew their armed forces after being in Afghanistan for 20 years, the Mennonite Church in Lancaster County has a tradition and history of welcoming survivors of warfare with open arms.

At the LMC Assembly last week we asked folks to tell us what they value about Mennonites. We were curious about the answers. Are there any answers that surprise you? And what would YOUR answer be?

Yesterday warmed our history loving hearts as the LMC Assembly held a hymnsing led by Stumptown Mennonite Church. They used the old red hymnals and busted out some 606.
