Know Movement

Movements we create are not done in isolation. Our muscles, tendons, connective tissue, bones, (plus hundreds of thousands of neural connections) make up these simple, yet very complex movements throughout the day. Our ability to move fluidly and cohesively depends upon the communication present within each of these layers. If there is a block within any of these, this network is no longer able to move properly, and this is where compensation patterns arise. Leave this go for periods of time, and your body will begin to place stress upon tissues that can’t handle load. So while we may have “only tweaked our ankle” on our last run, have you tried to any single leg jumps on it? How well are you able to load that tissue properly before you head out for your run? Don’t let stuck tissue be the cause of future injuries. Regular maintenance (and especially that of your own at home) is crucial to keeping your tissue healthy and happy!

I am excited to officially announce Know Movement. For those of you who know me, you may be aware of my dedication to understanding the body and how it should move. This understanding and pursuit of knowledge, helped me with my own recovery from injuries and to learn healthy movement. Know Movement allows me to use my own experience and knowledge to help people move better through manual massage work and education.
