You know you’re busy when you forget you have a song coming out. My life lately has been very true to the song lyrics; “Run Run Run” talks about a friend that is so busy they’re hard to pin down what they’re doing and more importantly, how there doing. It’s a playful and fun song that can remind us that as good as it is to get things done, we need to slow down, rest, and spend time with those that we love!

This song was inspired by the odd practice of carving names, initials, etc. (aka graffiti/vandalism) into trees. One particular tree caught my attention, where someone had scratched their initials in a heart into the bark of tree, and from the deep gouges the tree began to drip sap, literally bleeding from the carved letters. I felt that was so odd that people would harm or damage anything, let alone a living thing so senselessly and mindlessly. It made me think of how as people we often think solely of our own wants without considering the needs of others, and in doing so, can cause hurt and harm. It’s the human condition. And that is where grace and forgiveness come into play. To make allowances for each other and treat others with kindness as best we can, even when we mess up and hurt each other. We can always learn from mistakes, if forgiveness, grace, love and gratitude is present.
