RuffRider Transports, under LMS Animal Rescue Foundation, became a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 2016. Lindsay Simon, President, however, has been doing transports since 2013 in the south Louisiana area. RuffRider is based in Lafayette, Louisiana and does group transports across the United States. Animal shelters in Louisiana struggle with overcrowding, with many shelters being forced to euthanize dogs before they can be rescued and/or adopted. Heart worm disease is one of the leading obstacles that prevents local and regional animal rescues from pulling dogs in shelters often leading to euthanization.
LMS Animal Rescue Foundation's RuffRider Transports, a local animal welfare nonprofit, works to fill this gap by being able to pull and treat dogs with heart worm disease and give them a second chance at a long and happy life.
