Buying a home shouldn’t be llama drama. 🦙

Saw this on the way to a home inspection and had to share.

You never know what you’ll run into on the road —
and you never know what’s hiding behind walls, in attics, or under crawlspaces either.

That’s why we look for the issues before they become your problem.

No surprises at closing.
Just thorough inspections, clear reports, and honest answers.

Home Inspection 101: What’s in the Tool Bag?

In our last post, we covered the basics every home inspector needs. Now, let’s unpack the tool bag and take a closer look at some of the essential tools we use on every inspection!

🔧 Screwdrivers – A simple yet crucial tool! We use these to remove electrical panel covers, access HVAC components, and check other areas of the home.

💦 Moisture Meter – Water damage can hide beneath the surface. This tool helps us detect excess moisture in walls, ceilings, and floors—potential signs of leaks or mold risks.

⚡ Electrical Testers – Safety is key! These testers allow us to check if outlets are properly wired and if circuits are live, helping identify potential electrical hazards.

🔦 Flashlights – Not every part of a home is well-lit! A powerful flashlight is essential for inspecting crawl spaces, attics, basements, and dark corners where issues might be hiding.

These are just a few of the must-have tools we carry on every inspection. Stay tuned as we continue our Tools of the Trade series and highlight even more of the gear that helps us do our job!

Home Inspection 101: The Essentials

Every home inspector needs the right tools to get the job done! In this series, we’re taking you behind the scenes to highlight some of the key tools we use during inspections.

First up—the basics:

✅ A Reliable Vehicle – You can’t inspect homes if you can’t get to them! Our truck is loaded up and ready to roll to every inspection.

✅ A Well-Stocked Tool Bag – From screwdrivers to an electric meter and a moisture meter, these are the must-haves for checking a home’s key systems.

✅ PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – Safety first! A mask, booties, and other gear help keep both the inspector and the home clean and protected.

✅ A Sturdy Ladder – Because not everything is at eye level! A good ladder is a must for checking roofs, attics, and other hard-to-reach spots.

Stay tuned as we dive deeper into the tools that help us inspect homes thoroughly and keep our clients informed!
