📢 PATH Act Refund Timing Update

If you claim dependents or receive any of the following credits:
✔️ Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
✔️ Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)
✔️ Child Tax Credit (CTC)

Your refund is affected by the PATH Act (Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act).

Here’s what that means in plain language:

➡️ The IRS is legally required to hold refunds that include these credits until after mid-February to allow extra time for fraud prevention and identity verification.
➡️ Because of this hold, many taxpayers will not see an actual refund date in “Where’s My Refund” until late February or early March.
➡️ This is normal. It does not mean your return is delayed, rejected, or missing.

Once the hold lifts, refunds are typically released within days, depending on your bank’s processing time.

You can track updates directly on the Internal Revenue Service website using the “Where’s My Refund?” tool.
