When was the last time you needed an accommodation? When a second cup of coffee felt like a necessity, even if that’s not something you typically have? Or when you needed to take a moment in your quiet car before you walked into your house? Or when you took a walk to get your thoughts together before a big meeting?
We take accommodations all the time as adults, yet our education system doesn’t allow our kids to do the same…unless they’re legally obligated to do so.
We need to offer all our kids options for learning and getting the jiggles out, not just those with IEPs and 504 plans.
