I am doing an author event in Claremont. I cannot say enough great things about this local store. Their selection of materials and welcoming staff really emulate sunshine.

Today I am talking science fair kits! These are the BEST. I have used them with my own kids and the curriculum alone is worth the price of the kit. They come with all the supplies and skillfully scaffolded instructions to lead students through the scientific method.

One of the most challenging lessons to write for this age group and skill set was the lesson on global tides πŸŒŽπŸŒ•πŸŒž.

Imagine a bulge of ocean surface that reaches toward the moon. Now set it all in motion. Ocean surface levels rise and fall here on earth as the relationships between celestial bodies constantly change. I'm proud of the hands-on activity I designed to demonstrate part of this phenomenon. It will really get kids thinking!
