🚨 URGENT: HB 1001 Threatens Key West Events & Our Economy
Florida House Bill 1001 is moving quickly and could soon be voted on. As written, it would restrict local governments from funding or promoting programming that references sexual orientation or gender identity.
If passed, this could eliminate public support and TDC funding for Key West Pride, WomenFest, Tropical Heat, and the Headdress Ball, events that drive major revenue for our hotels, restaurants, shops, and tourism partners.
These celebrations are not just cultural moments, they are critical economic engines. If HB 1001 passes as written, 2026 could be the last year these events take place at their current scale, or at all.
Please review the bill, contact your state representatives, and share this message.
