š”Have you ever wondered why certain lights are considered sea turtle safe, while others arenāt? š¢
Sea turtles donāt see light the same way humans do. They are very sensitive to short wavelength light in the blue and green range, and even into the near ultra violet range, but are essentially colorblind to long wavelength red, orange, and amber light. Low intensity, long wavelength light bulbs are recommended for areas where sea turtles nest. This prevents them from mistaking artificial lights for moonlight and becoming disoriented.
