The Julia Tuttle Causeway, named after the mother of Miami, opened in 1959.
The causeway went under construction in 1959 and was finalized two years later in 1961. This six-lane highway crosses Biscayne Bay and provides passage for thousands of motorists every year to and from Miami Beach!
