⚡ What do these generator buttons actually mean?
If you own a standby generator, these are the main modes you may see on your control panel:
🟠 AUTO
This is the normal setting. Your generator is standing by and ready to turn on automatically if the power goes out.
⚫ OFF
The generator will not start automatically during an outage. This mode is usually used during maintenance or service.
🔵 MANUAL
This allows the generator to run manually for testing or troubleshooting, even if utility power is still on.
🔧 SERVICE LIGHT
If this light appears, your generator may need maintenance or attention from a technician.
Most homeowners keep their generator in AUTO mode so the system is ready whenever an outage happens ⚡
