I grew up here, graduated from Kent Meridian, started a small business while raising my two sons, with my husband Shawn. After serving as your City Councilmember and City Council President, in the middle of my fight with breast cancer, you elected me to be your Mayor 4 years ago, and from the moment I took my oath of office until today - I’ve never stopped fighting for you and fighting for us. I n
ever wanted to be in politics. The word politician isn’t something I’m proud of. But when I saw decisions being made about our community that wasn’t in our best interest - I knew I had to do something. So I fought against big developers then and I fight for what is best for our community still today. I’m not a Democrat or a Republican, I don’t want to run for any higher offer and I don’t report to any special interests - which is why I’m not afraid to stand up and do what is right. The last 4 years have been tough for our community. Many of us have struggled through crisis after crisis. From a police officer killed in the line of duty, to major flooding and storms to a global pandemic leading to economic recession - things haven’t been easy. But we’ve pulled together, acknowledging our best days are ahead of us. We’ve been able to show the region that Kent is more than just the land of big hair and big trucks. We are more than a place on a map. Kent is where progress is made. Where we come together and support each other during hard times. From launching rocket ships into space to being one of the largest manufacturing and job centers on the West Coast as the home to Amazon, Starbucks, Blue Origin and other major companies - Kent contributes to the region, the nation and the world. But it hasn’t been all doom and gloom the last 4 years. We’ve created over 10,000 new jobs, we’ve increased both the availability of affordable housing and higher end homes. We’ve invested in new roads and improving the ones we have so you spend less time in traffic and can get around easier. We’ve increased our clean up efforts to get litter and graffiti handled faster. We’ve invested in our parks and recreation programs for you and your family. All while increasing our investment to protect our most vulnerable residents. The whole time - increasing our transparency and accessibility for residents to oversee their local government. It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your Mayor. We’ve battled some of the greatest challenges of our lifetime. We’ve accomplished some remarkable things. But our work isn’t over. That’s why I am running for a second term - to finish what we started. We need to continue putting people before politics. We need to continue building a community that you and your family can be proud of. That means - I need you to keep me in the ring - so I can keep fighting for you. I’m ready to keep moving Kent forward, but I need you to stay with me in the fight, because together we can make Kent a place we are all proud to call home. Together, our best is yet to come.

It is an honor and privilege to have their support. As mayor, I will continue to advance policies and projects that uplift and support workers in our communities. danaralph.com
