HS Boys went to Westlake Austin and got all they wanted! It was hot and we were on turf. We traveled 9 strong and borrowed some players from Rock Rugby and ended up losing 28-14. Multiple strong runs from Westin Sagers kept us in the game but, wasn’t enough. The boys are getting better by the minute! Thank you all who went in support and Sam for the Videography!

Practice this week Tuesday and Thursday! 6:30-8 Bear Creek Park in Keller by the basketball courts.

Recruit/Recruit/Recruit – All ages!
• Everyone get some fliers out! Put them everywhere!
• The younger ages are gearing up for the first Round Robin Tournament and we need to know who is in?
• The first round robin for North will be 2/21 at HEB

Thanks!

In rugby, each player has a specific position number that corresponds to their role on the field, with forwards numbered 1-8 and backs numbered 9-15.
Overview of Rugby Positions
In rugby union, a team consists of 15 players, divided into two main categories: forwards and backs. Each position is assigned a specific number, which helps identify the player's role during the game.
Forwards (Numbers 1-8)
1. Loosehead Prop (1): Provides stability in the scrum and supports the ho**er. Typically strong and stocky.
2. Ho**er (2): Responsible for hooking the ball in scrums and throwing it in at line-outs. Plays a crucial role in securing possession.
3. Tighthead Prop (3): Similar to the loosehead prop but positioned on the opposite side of the scrum. Also strong and plays a key role in scrummaging.
4. Lock (4): Tall players who provide support in the scrum and are key in line-outs. They help secure the ball and gain ground.
5. Lock (5): Works alongside the other lock, often involved in line-outs and rucks, providing physical presence and support.
6. Flanker (6): Agile players who are involved in both defense and attack, often the first to arrive at breakdowns.
7. Flanker (7): Similar to the other flanker, focusing on winning possession and tackling opponents.
8. Number Eight (8): Positioned at the back of the scrum, responsible for controlling the ball and linking between forwards and backs.
Backs (Numbers 9-15)
9. Scrum-half (9): Links the forwards and backs, making quick decisions and distributing the ball from the base of scrums and rucks.
10. Fly-half (10): Key playmaker who directs the attack, often responsible for kicking and tactical decisions.
11. Left Wing (11): Fast players who finish scoring opportunities, positioned on the left side of the field.
12. Inside Centre (12): Combines strength and skill, often involved in both defense and attack, creating opportunities for the outside backs.
13. Outside Centre (13): Similar to the inside centre but typically faster, focusing on breaking through defenses and supporting wingers.
14. Right Wing (14): Positioned on the right side, similar role to the left wing, often scoring tries.
15. Fullback (15): Positioned at the back, responsible for catching high balls, defending against kicks, and launching counter-attacks.
Substitutes
In addition to the starting 15 players, teams can have substitutes numbered 16-23, who can replace on-field players during the match. These substitutes often include additional forwards and backs, allowing for tactical changes as the game progresses.
Understanding these positions and their corresponding numbers is essential for grasping the dynamics of rugby and the specific roles each player fulfills on the field. Each position requires unique skills and attributes, contributing to the overall strategy and performance of the team.
