This Fourth of July, we’re grateful for freedom and reminded that freedom can also look like safety, belonging, opportunity and hope for the future.

At Unfaulted, we’re honored to walk alongside young adults as they build lives marked by each of these. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

If you’re new to Dalene’s story, she is the widow we’ll have the privilege of serving through our Both Hands project on August 8. As we prepare for the day, we’re sharing pieces of her story to help our community know the woman behind the project.

One of the hardest parts of widowhood is what others may not see. Dalene had never lived alone. She married Mike at 18, and for decades, life had been built around their partnership, family and home together.

After losing him, even home felt different. She described the fear of learning how to live in a world that no longer felt familiar. The loss was not only emotional. It affected her sense of identity, comfort and security.

That is part of why this Both Hands project matters. Practical help is important, but so is showing up for Dalene and reminding her that she does not have to carry everything alone.

There are still opportunities to serve with us on August 8 as we care for Dalene’s home while raising support for Unfaulted and young adults aging out of foster care. Learn more, volunteer, or give at: bothhands.org/project/unfaulted-2026/

This month, we began a new series with our young ladies called Bohemian Forgiveness by Wendy Redroad.

The study has already led to honest conversations, meaningful reflection and moments of real growth. At Unfaulted, we are committed to creating safe spaces where young adults can work through the impact of trauma, experience healing and begin to see that their past does not have to define their future. There is still so much hope ahead, and we are grateful to walk alongside them as they discover it.
