Stephan Henke

Steve Henke, 73, of Keizer, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Keizer. He was born on March 20, 1953, in Dayton to Lawrence W. Henke and Marianne Henke.

Steve was a 1971 graduate of Notre Dame High School and spent many years working in furniture sales, where he was known for his friendly nature and ability to connect with people.

Above all else, Steve treasured time with his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and school activities and cheering them on with pride. He also enjoyed hiking, musicals, and trivia, and was always ready with a story, a laugh, or an interesting fact to share.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence W. Henke and Marianne Henke; his sister, Ann Henke Pangborn; and his brothers, Daniel Henke and Christopher Henke.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Wittnebel; daughter-in-law, Shannon Wittnebel; and his beloved grandchildren, Ashylyn Wittnebel and Jax Wittnebel. He is also survived by his siblings, Lawrence Henke (Denise), Michael Henke (Carol), James Henke (Carol), Lisa Henke (Bob Derhsam), and James Pangborn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve will be remembered for his love of family, his kind heart, and the joy he found in life's simple moments. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Stanley Cornelius Strong

Stanley Cornelius Strong was born on March 4,1931 to Stanislaus & Mary (Doughty) Strong in Milan OH. He completed his life on earth surrounded by family on April 24, 2026.

The oldest of 4 children, he had 3 sisters. Stan attended St. Paul Catholic School in Norwalk, Ohio, grades 1-12, graduating in 1949. He married Marcella Matelski in September 1952. She preceded him in 2012. He & Mom were members of St. Edward Catholic Church. Dad was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

He joined the USAF & served from 1951-1955 as a Flight Mechanic & Engineer. One of the planes he worked on was the Enola Gay. He served in the Korean War, telling us as kids that he remembered bringing food & medical supplies to war victims in eastern Europe, namely Gdansk, Poland & transferring wounded for medical treatment.

He fulfilled a dream by earning his pilot's license. Dad remembered Mom waving a lantern on the runway at night to help him land the plane. Another dream was fulfilled by owning his own TV repair business in Norwalk, Ohio, Nor-Mil TV & Appliance Repair, in 1957. He recalled bringing TVs into the local hospital rooms for a $5 daily rental.

In 1961 the entire family, now including 4 children, Barbara, Debra, Ron & Larry, moved to Chatsworth, CA where Stan worked with RCA as a TV appliance tech. Their fifth child, Sharen, was born in Chatsworth. He flew with the Civil Air Patrol for years. Back then they had to buy their own uniforms!

The family moved to a small farm in Logan, OR. Dad then went to work in electrical repair for JC Penney's. Dad & Mom purchased their own 18-wheeler. Although they enjoyed the time on the road, they realized they liked to be home better!

Dad was a friendly man & enjoyed volunteering as a docent at the Salem hospital for several years, greeting & helping folks looking for assistance. If there was one thing Dad loved besides his family it was aviation! He volunteered at Evergreen Aviation Museum for many years. The biggest smile we ever saw on Dad's face was when he purchased an airplane at 83 years of age! He spent hundreds of hours taking lessons & in recreational flying. He flew us to the center of Mt. St. Helens 3 years after it exploded. He was active with local Remote-Control Airplane (RC) enthusiasts. Stan enjoyed bowling, pinochle, air shows, square dancing, gardening, family camping, long drives in the country & not having to cook!

Dad always provided for & protected his family, with never a bad word about anyone. He also liked road trips with Barbara, drag racing with Ron, eating with Debra, & working on cars with Larry. In 2017 Stan took a 2-week trip to Poland with Sharen, where he visited the home towns of his grandparents & places he'd visited while in the Air Force. He also took a 2015 Canadian Railroad trip & in 2016 visited Hawaii.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents & two sisters, Audrey & Norma. His youngest sister, Mary Ann Parish, lives in Canal Wi******er OH. He is survived by his children: Barbara Strong, Ron (Renea) Strong, Debra (Myron) Snyder, Larry (Denise) Strong, Sharen Strong (Dan Matthews), six grandchildren & thirteen great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Saint Edward Catholic Church, 5303 River Rd N Keizer OR, with Rosary at 1:30 PM, Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM & a reception following.

Louis Joesph Schippers Jr

Louis Joesph Schippers Jr, 70, of Salem Oregon was found dead on April 29, 2026 he wrote his own obituary enjoy the read.

Louis died peacefully in his sleep, (We Hope) he was found because his neighbors complained he was stinking up the place, and he was two weeks late paying the rent so it is not sure how peaceful his death actually was. Louis struggled with a life long battle with diabetes, high blood pressure and poor eye-sight. Louis was lucky he lived as long as he did. Survived by his Sister Diane; Children Amanda, Andrew and Stesha; Grandchildren Desmond, and Aurora. After a long 40-year career as a Registered Nurse, Louis, as a Business Management Consultant, enjoyed helping others to be successful, starting their own In-home Care Agency. A quick shout-out to his ex-wives, Doreen, Susan, and Natasha, as well as the Internal Revenue Service and the Oregon Department of Revenue, Louis is really, really dead and copies of his death certificates will be available shortly.

Catherine Jane Blair

Catherine Jane (Wright) Blair, born June 30, 1948, in Salem, Oregon, passed away peacefully, April 21, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength.

Cathy attended Brooks Elementary School and graduated from Gervais Union High School in 1966. She carried the values of kindness, hard work, and compassion throughout her life.

She devoted 28 total years of service as a volunteer and then employed Instructional Assistant at Hayesville Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She retired in 2013, leaving behind a true passion of care and commitment to education.

Cathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Don and Doris Curry, and her husband of 51 years, Tom Blair. Their enduring love was a cornerstone of her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Traci Jagels (Todd); her son, Brian Blair (Tiffany Steele); her cherished grandchildren, Brendan Jagels (Kassidi) and Madisan Jagels; her sisters, Helen Cuff and Judy Wright; and her brother, Ed Wright.

A woman of faith later in life, Cathy loved Jesus and was a devoted believer always looking forward to her forever home in Heaven. She found great joy and comfort in her contemporary Christian music playlists, often filling her home with songs of praise that reflected her faith and uplifted her spirit. Cathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held.
