Homeowners!

Our Home Repair Lead Tim has some tips to keep your A/C running 🧊 cold as the summer heat ramps up:

πŸ”‹Check/replace thermostat batteries
This makes it easier to troubleshoot if something does go wrong with your A/C.
For most thermostats, you can remove the unit from the wall mount, open the panel on the back, and find the batteries there. Check your unit to see what type of batteries are needed.

π–¦Ή Clean condenser coils with a hose
Condenser coils are the part of your A/C unit that diffuse heat away from the house. To do this effectively, they need to be clean of dirt and debris.
You can use a hose to spray the coils off, thoroughly cleaning the entire surface. Use a high-pressure setting on your hose's nozzle for the best results.

πŸ’§Flush the condensate line to avoid clogs
Your condensate line should be accessible on the inside of the home. If you know where to find your heater and change your furnace filter, check next to it for the A/C system and condensate line. The line needs to be flushed annually to keep it clear. You can do this using a wide-mouth funnel and a gallon pitcher of water.
This keeps it free of clogs, your A/C running smoothly, and helps prevent water damage to the inside of your home.

Anything beyond these basic maintenance items should be a service call to keep your A/C in the best shape possible!
