Remember to spring forward this weekend. This is a great time to change batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Push the test button on the units to make sure they are operational. Most fire related deaths are in homes with non-working smoke detectors.

Make sure to be safe in your use of candles during the holiday season. December is the most dangerous time of year for candle fires. Here is information from National Fire Protection Association.

Candles started 38% of home decoration structure fires.
Half (51%) of the December home decoration fires were started by candles, compared to one-third (35%) in January to November.
The top three days for home candle fires were Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Christmas Eve.
