Whenever possible, we try to keep a bathroom’s existing layout to help our clients save on costs. But when a space isn’t meeting their needs, we’re not afraid to rethink it from the ground up!

In this full renovation, we transformed an itty bitty shower (across from the toilet in the last photo) into a full-size tub-and-shower combo—with the shower head raised high enough for our 6’8” homeowner to comfortably use if needed. The space now serves their renters, but you never know when another tall guest will be just as grateful, as you can see our homeowner already is!

To make the layout truly functional, we expanded the footprint by borrowing a bit of square footage from an adjacent bedroom closet. The result? A spacious, thoughtfully designed bathroom that comfortably works for two.

One tile, two totally different vibes ✨

I used the same warm wood ribbon tile in both of these bathrooms—but customized the overall feel through layout, lighting, and surrounding materials.

🌳In the first bath, it’s laid horizontally and paired with natural light, forest views, and wood-tone flooring for a warm, retreat-like space.

🤍In the second, a sleek contrast with white wall tile, marbled white and maple toned shower floor tiles, and black fixtures gives the vertical texture a more modern, sculptural feel, and laid vertically to give the illusion of a larger space.

🖤For a little bonus, swipe to the end to see how we used the same tile in black for even more drama.

Which version is more your style—Earthy Escape or Modern Mood?
