# BREAKING NEWS: 10-Year-Old Quarter Midget Racer Qualifies for Indy 500

**INDIANAPOLIS, April 1** - In a stunning development that has shaken the racing world to its core, 10-year-old Dylan Stiener from Elkhart, Indiana has become the youngest driver ever to qualify for the Indianapolis 500.

The racing prodigy, who until yesterday was known only in the Quarter Midget circuits at Little Kalamazoo Speedway, shocked veteran drivers and officials alike when he snuck his modified Quarter Midget onto the track during qualifying sessions and posted a blistering lap time of 232.5 mph.

"I just wanted to see if I could do it," said the fifth-grader, casually sipping a juice box in the press room. "My Quarter Midget has some special modifications that my dad doesn't know about."

Those "special modifications" apparently included a secret hybrid rocket booster that Stiener designed during his science class. Engineers who examined the vehicle were baffled by its advanced technology.

"I've never seen anything like it," said Roger Penske, owner of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "The kid used LEGO Technic pieces and some kind of mystery fuel that smells like fruit punch. We tested it and it passes all technical inspections somehow."

IndyCar officials were initially prepared to disqualify Stiener, but after an emergency meeting, they announced a special exception to allow the 10-year-old to compete.

"The rulebook doesn't explicitly state that drivers need to be able to see over the steering wheel without a booster seat," explained race director Kyle Novak. "And frankly, we're all curious to see what happens."

Stiener's parents were reportedly unaware of their son's qualification until they received a call from the speedway.

"We thought he was at his friend's house working on a science project," said his mother. "Turns out the 'science project' was modifying his Quarter Midget to go 230+ mph. We're grounding him until the race."

When asked about his strategy for the actual race, Stiener was confident. "I've been practicing on my racing simulator. Plus, I've memorized every turn of the track from watching races on TV since I was 4."

His Quarter Midget, now adorned with special #500½ decals, will be the smallest vehicle ever to compete in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Veteran driver Scott Dixon expressed both concern and admiration. "The kid's line through Turn 3 is something I've never seen before. He's either a genius or completely fearless. Probably both."

Dylan's teachers at Elkhart Elementary School have agreed to excuse his absence for Race Day, on the condition that he completes a 500-word essay about his experience.

"I already finished it," Stiener revealed. "It just says 'Vroom' 500 times."

The racing world will be watching with bated breath when the green flag drops to see if this pint-sized prodigy can make history.

**Disclaimer: This is an April Fools' story and is entirely fictional. Dylan remains an accomplished Quarter Midget racer at Little Kalamazoo Speedway, where he continues to develop his racing skills at an age-appropriate level and speed.**

Great start to the weekend in Toledo! Dylan got plenty of practice this morning, finding his feet in the Light 160 class, his first time driving it. The car was super loose, but he did very well. We made some adjustments for his heat race and the car was MUCH better. He started 5th and finished 3rd! For his A-Main feature he will start 4th out of 9 cars chasing that podium 🏁
