summer reading challenge accepted! Sometimes your librarian is a little late in starting but I’ll finish strong and see you at the finish! Kanikapila is an impromptu jam session of Hawaiian music. Our little group is starting to learn songs they like to listen to (an odd mix of popular music from their generation and mine), practicing chord fingerings and strumming. Eventually we’d like to have a bunch of songs including Hawaiian standards we can jam together, but for now, we enjoy learning to play ukulele together.

In this library, book fairs are for the kids. They decorate, create and play games, learn to work the register (with my supervision of course), and advise me on which books to consider for our collection.
