Less than 24 hours ago, this tiny kitten was fighting for his life.
Porter arrived from Okeechobee Animal Control with severe puncture wounds that had penetrated his chest. Air was leaking into his chest cavity, causing his lungs to collapse.
Our veterinary team knew immediately that this was an emergency.
After stabilizing Porter, they rushed him into surgery to repair his wounds and place a chest tube so his lungs could expand again.
Today, Porter is recovering at our Capital Street shelter and breathing much easier.
It's hard to believe that yesterday his future was uncertain.
