1,500 beagles are being rehomed after rescue groups purchased them from Ridglan Farms, a Wisconsin breeding facility that supplied dogs to research labs for over 60 years.

The first 300 dogs were picked up on May 2, with more to follow over the next week. Big Dog Ranch Rescue has already received over 700 adoption applications.

Ridglan Farms agreed last October to surrender its state breeding license by July 1 as part of a deal to avoid felony animal mistreatment charges.
