Governor Egan, Alaska's first governor recognized the need for a marine highway for Alaskans living in the Southeast Archipelago. As Alaska faces fiscal crisis, Alaskan Capt. Loretto Jones decided to go into business on a much smaller scale. With her vessel, the M/V Nautical Son, a 40 ft. Roberts with 4000 lbs. freight and 6 passenger capacity, she travels from Juneau to Tenakee Springs, Pelican, Angoon, and Gustavus. As a former commercial fisherman, Capt. Loretto knows the local waters.
