When most people think of orthodontics, they think of straighter teeth and beautiful smiles. But sometimes, orthodontic treatment is part of something much bigger.

This patient came to us suffering from severe obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that can significantly impact sleep quality, energy levels, overall health, and daily life.

After a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Jewett, we worked closely with specialists at UT Medical Center to develop a treatment plan that addressed the root cause of his airway obstruction. Through a combination of orthodontic treatment and orthognathic (jaw) surgery, his airway was expanded and his facial structure was corrected to help improve his breathing during sleep.

What makes this case even more remarkable is that the patient had previously completed orthodontic treatment as a teenager and required only minimal tooth movement before surgery. Braces were placed just one week prior to surgery and removed only four months later.

The changes you see in these photos are more than cosmetic. They represent improved airway function, better sleep, enhanced health, and a renewed quality of life.
