A friend shared something today that really hit home, and it got me thinking...
Can I be honest for a minute?
Sometimes I scroll social media and see people who seem to do all the things. The perfect farm. The champion goats. The endless projects. The beautiful photos. The business that's always growing.
And if I'm not careful, I start wondering if I should be doing more... or doing it better.
Truth is... it gets exhausting.
Somewhere along the way, social media started feeling like one big game of one-upmanship. We don't all have to have the next National Champion. We don't all have to win every show, milk 30 goats, build a new barn every year, or be doing a hundred different things just to feel like we're enough.
I think I'm finally learning that it's okay to build my farm, not someone else's.
I want to enjoy my goats. Make ice cream. Bake bread. Grow flowers. Spend time with my family. Love on a goofy little tuxedo kitten who thinks he owns the place.
The older I get, the more I realize the real treasures aren't ribbons, followers, or perfectly curated posts. They're the people who genuinely cheer you on, celebrate your wins, lend a hand when life gets hard, and don't feel the need to compete with you.
So thank you to my friend Kayla whose post reminded me of that today. ❤️
If you've been caught in the comparison trap lately... maybe this is your reminder too.

We've milked for years using an old Surge pump with a cow milker that we converted for our dairy goats. I'm pretty sure that old pump is older than we are! 😂 It's been an oldie but a goodie, but after all these years it's finally due for an overhaul. It's had a few hiccups lately, and we figured it was time.
We have a brand-new Simple Pulse goat milker on order, but apparently they're pretty popular! We were notified it may be 6 weeks or longer before ours ships.
In the meantime, we're borrowing a Simple Pulse unit from my sister that she picked up used a while back but hadn't had a chance to use yet.
A huge THANK YOU to my sissy, Linda Asher, for letting us borrow it! ❤️
And another HUGE THANK YOU to our friend Kayla at K & L Farms! She dropped everything, came right over, and helped us get this machine up and running. It needed a couple of small parts swapped out and a few little tweaks, but she's running now!
It's always such a blessing to have family and friends who are willing to jump in and help when you need them. We sure appreciate you both! 🐐🥛
