As volunteer friendship partners with World Relief, we helped a family who fled from Ethiopia—a mother and her two twin twenty-one year old sons. Their father was killed by Ethiopian police. They struggled to get work as their only skill was being a tailor. They also struggled learning how to pay their rent and navigate transportation. This Volunteer Appreciation Week, we celebrate the incredible individuals who give their time, talents, and hearts to welcome, support, and empower refugee families in our community.
Because of our volunteers, newcomers find friendship, families feel supported, and hope takes root. Whether mentoring, tutoring, driving, teaching, or simply showing up with compassion, every act of service helps create a community where refugees can heal, rebuild, and thrive.
