"Bite Me" is a playful yet poignant exploration of the complex relationship between humans and the natural world, particularly our role as caretakers—or, too often, our failure to act as such. The abstract depiction of a massive whale, with its tail breaking through the ocean’s surface and a spout of water shooting into the sky, embodies the raw power and majesty of sea life. Yet, the phrase "Bite Me" scrawled across the tail adds a layer of attitude, a rebellious streak that challenges the viewer to think beyond the surface. This piece is a pun on both the literal and figurative meanings of the phrase. On one level, it reflects the whale’s defiance, a creature of the deep asserting its presence in a world where sea life is often threatened by human activity. On another, it speaks to the audacity of our consumption—our tendency to take without considering the consequences. Through this painting, I invite the viewer to contemplate their role in the stewardship of our oceans. Are we merely takers, or do we have the courage and responsibility to protect the world beneath the waves? "Bite Me" is both a call to action and a reminder that the natural world will always have the final say, whether we choose to respect it or not.
