Congratulations to director David Rae Morris Photographer/Filmmaker for his film “My Mind to Me A Kingdom Is: The Legacy of Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister” being screened in the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture! This documentary was funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council and will be shown in the museum's Oprah Winfrey Theatre on Friday, July 17, at 1 p.m.

I’m very excited to announce that “My Mind To Me Kingdom Is: The Legacy Of Dr. Jane Ellen McAllister“ will be shown at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. this Thursday July 17th at 1 p.m. NMAAHC University of the District of Columbia | UDC Jackson State University Visit Vicksburg MS

The Mississippi Humanities Council is excited to continue our Witness: The Freedom Memory Project’s community meetings throughout July. These conversations are rooted in the stories and history of each host community, offering local residents and neighbors an opportunity to help preserve their history and join the conversation.
