Emily Kaesberg serves as Secretary and APTA TN Student Council Representative on the APTA TN Student SIG Executive Committee for the 2026–2027 year with the American Physical Therapy Association of Tennessee!
On April 19–21, Emily traveled to Washington, D.C., where she spent three days advocating on Capitol Hill. She walked the halls of Congress, meeting face-to-face with members and their staff to push for payment reform, improved Medicare policies, and reduced administrative burdens that impact both clinicians and patients.
During her time there, Emily connected with PTs and PTAs from across the country and learned from experienced advocates who have been advancing legislation for years.
We are so proud of Emily and her commitment to the future of the profession.
“It was truly an honor to get to go to Capitol Hill to advocate for my future as a clinician. I was able to meet with legislative staff, in order to build relationships that would truly help push for the issues that need to be addressed in our profession, and how they affect our patients.
I also learned that becoming an advocate for our profession is something that goes beyond attending events like Capitol Hill Day. It means reaching out to these legislative staff, in order to answer any questions or concerns that might have come up, and slowly building that connection to become the person that they reach out to when they have questions about our profession.
Needless to say, I see myself going back, not only to continue my list of visiting all the sights, but to continue to advocate!”
