Cecil's Collision Center
Cecil’s Collision Center
We have been in business for 10 years and we love being a part of this community helping customers get back on the road. Dealing with an Insurance Claim can be frustrating at times and that is why we go over and above to help our customers navigate this process.
Do Not let your Insurance Company choose your Auto body shop!
Did you know that after an accident, your insurance company might try to “steer” you toward one of their preferred shops? This act of steering is illegal. The shops Insurance Companies are trying to get you to use are considered DRP’s (Direct Repair Program) or Select Service Shops and this prioritizes the Insurance Company’s bottom line over your vehicle’s safety.
At Cecil’s Collision Center, we work for YOU, not the Insurance Company.
Why Choose Cecil’s?
- 10 Years of Excellence: We have been serving our community with honest, high-quality repairs for a decade.
- We are NOT a DRP: We DO NOT take shortcuts to please insurance adjusters. We follow manufacturer standards to ensure your car is returned to you in pre-accident condition, which is why our motto is “like it never happened!”
- Our Warranty matters: Insurance companies might claim they “guarantee” the work at their preferred shops, but they are not the ones performing the work. WE WARRANTY OUR OWN WORK because we stand behind every weld, bolt and spray gun application.
- Costs: Insurance companies will scare you by telling you if you take your vehicle to a non-DRP or Select Service shop you will be responsible for part of the costs and this is FALSE. This is steering, solely to save the Insurance Company’s money. Your claim should be paid in full regardless of where you take your vehicle.
- Your Choice, Your Right: Legally, you have the right to choose where your vehicle is repaired. DO NOT let the Insurance Company’s tell you otherwise?
We wanted to explain a situation that might help customers understand the insurance process a little better when dealing with auto insurance. We recently had a customer who was hit my another party come in for an estimate and scheduled her repairs. The claim was filed under the other party’s insurance. This is referred to as a 3rd party. Well anytime you are dealing with a 3rd party insurance the insurance company will go out of their way to cut corners and not pay the claim in full. We recently had to explain to a customer that the insurance was refusing to pay part of the charges and that she should reach out to the party that hit her to let them know their insurance was not paying in full and that they would be responsible for the difference. Well the insurance company has her convinced that we should eat the difference and she believes them. We agree with the customer that she shouldn’t pay the difference as the other party hit her but the shop is not responsible for paying for part of her repairs either. Ultimately the responsibility falls on the other party if their insurance refuses to pay. Unfortunately, we see this quite often, and it all comes down to customer education. It is no different than health insurance. You go to the hospital, the insurance pays 80% and the customer is responsible for the remaining balance. We do get a lot of customers who feel that “we have insurance” and we aren’t paying a penny. We really wish that it worked this way for everyone but sadly insurance does not cover in full most of the time, if ever. Our shop will go to bat for customer’s with the insurance company’s but ultimately the responsibility lies with the customer or the 3rd party, if there is one involved. Talk with your shop of choice and understand the insurance side from the beginning.
When dealing with your insurance company and they suggest, tell or mandate you take your vehicle to a specific shop they are most likely doing this because that shop is doing work cheaper for that insurance company which saves the insurance company money. This does not guarantee you will get quality service. Take your vehicle to the shop of YOUR choice!
Reminding everyone of important information if you have been in a wreck and looking for a collision center to take your vehicle to. This is especially true if someone else's insurance is paying for your repairs:
WHAT ARE YOU ENTITLED TO?
Often insurance company adjusters will not tell you everything you are entitled to in order to save the company money. They will also generally try to convince you to have the damage repairs completed at a shop that is on their “preferred list”, citing that the insurance company has “approved” the shop and “guarantee” the repairs. These insurance company / body shop agreements only exist for the benefit of the insurance company to save them money. This often results in lower quality repairs that can lead to problems ranging from cosmetic imperfections to serious structural integrity issues that can lead to problems with the vehicle’s ride, stability control and safety.
SELECTION OF BODY SHOP
You have the right to have your vehicle repaired at the auto collision shop of your choice. It is illegal for an insurance company to steer, force, require or pressure you into using a particular shop. You should never take your vehicle to a body shop based solely on the recommendation of an insurance company. Not even if it is your own insurance company. We recommend that you actually visit the body shop, stand face to face with the body shop manager and be sure he/she understands that they work for you and not the insurance company.
On the last note above, Cecil's Collision Center works for our customer's, not the insurance company. Our loyalty is to our customer and we will do everything in our power to make sure the insurance company compensates you correctly for your repairs.
