Blue Magnolia Films
Blue Magnolia Films is a documentary film company founded in 2013 by Alison Fast and Chandler Griffin to celebrate "bright spots" and small town solutions across the state of Mississippi. Our logo, the Mississippi magnolia tree symbolizes the renewal of deeply held values, passed down through generations. We retrieve the wisdom of the past for living in the present, and we make visible the people and projects that are powering a new culture of the south.
Nonprofits have powerful new opportunities through the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy Innovations Lab to take their organizations to the next level. Watch the video to learn more about this exciting program and visit us at www.alliancems.org/lab.
"I think the value in the moment we're in is that we have to learn from past mistakes … Muslims are your neighbors down the street, the person in the grocery store, the person that you see walking in your neighborhood. The word Salaam is 'Peace'. You have to want for your brother what you want for yourself. Would you want to be treated that way?"
- Karen Al-Turk - Co-founder, International Museum of Muslim Cultures
The International Museum of Muslim Cultures (IMMC) of Jackson, Mississippi, celebrates 20 years of service with a virtual fundraiser and photo documentary series, “IMMC Muslim Photo Stories: Voices of Beloved Community”, produced in partnership with Blue Magnolia Films.
Opened in April 2001, IMMC is the first museum of its kind in the country dedicated to educate the American public about Islamic history and culture and the contributions of diverse Muslims to world civilization. Co-founders, Emad Al-Turk, Karen Al-Turk, Okolo Rashid, Sababu Rashid, and their families, hope the museum will bridge people of all faiths, including Christians, Jewish and Muslim, to serve as a model for peaceful coexistence and Beloved Community.
IMMC is located at 201 E. Pascagoula St., Jackson, MS 39201, where the Timbuktu Exhibit is on display; its satellite site at 101 East Capitol Street, Jackson, MS 39201, houses the display of the Covenants Exhibit.
