I have a love hate relationship with ranunculus. They are the Goldilocks of the flower world. I’ve spent late nights running out with a headlamp after checking a surprise dip in temperatures fighting off a blackberry bush trying to tackle me in the dark just to get them covered so they don’t freeze. I’ve started them in the greenhouse and nurtured them every step of the way because if they freeze, they rot. If they get too wet, they rot. If it gets a little too warm, they just completely give up on life.
But when they bloom they just look so good, especially mixed in with peonies.
A huge thank you for such a massive weekend! It was so awesome seeing everyone grabbing local blooms and supporting all the other great small businesses around here.
The cart is restocked daily, and we are officially gearing up for a wild summer. We’ve got designer zinnias, sunflowers, over 250 dahlias, and some other really cool varieties in the ground right now that are absolutely soaking up this early summer heat. Oh, and the first pumpkin plants are already starting to pop up!

Despite the gloomy weather this week, it’s officially peony season here in Issaquah. These beauties are finally waking up and I’m fully obsessed. I’ve been adding varieties as fast as I can over the last few years maybe a minor addiction lol, but I’m up to 25+ varieties and over 100 peonies now.
One of the coolest things about peonies is that they can actually outlive us, some of these bloom for over 100 years!
The very first stems are heading out to my spring subscribers this week for their final bouquets. I’ll have a few available at the farm stand for walk-ups later this week, but they’ll be limited for a few days. Availability at the stand will ramp up by next week as more of the garden starts to pop.
If you want to skip the “sold out” stress, there is still time to grab a summer subscription. I’m delivering far and wide across Issaquah now, and I’ve even added some special delivery options for Beacon Hill and the Eastside. It’s the best way to guarantee you get the top-tier blooms delivered or ready for pickup every week.
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but these early bloomers are looking incredible. Thanks for all the amazing support anytime you buy local you help support the future of local flower farmers. See you at the farm!
