We're officially ONE WEEK away from the Grand Opening of Fire Station 8!

It feels like just yesterday—42 years ago—we were celebrating the opening of the original Station 8 on Las Colinas Boulevard. Now, we're excited to open a new chapter with Irving's newest fire station.

This milestone would not have been possible without the continued support of our incredible Irving community. Thank you for standing with the Irving Fire Department over the years. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate this special occasion!

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Irving Fire Department assuming responsibility for the city’s ambulance service.

In 1976, the Irving Fire Department officially took over ambulance operations with just four ambulances. In their first six months of service, IFD personnel completed more than 1,200 patient transports. Before that, ambulance services in Irving were provided by three different funeral homes.

For five decades, our ambulance crews have helped ensure that patients receive reliable, high-quality emergency medical care when every second counts. From those first four ambulances to the advanced emergency medical services we provide today, the commitment to serving our community has remained the same.
We are proud to recognize this important milestone and honor the firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and support personnel who have dedicated themselves to caring for the residents and visitors of Irving.
