Insurance Team One

Homeowners and insurers alike are feeling the pressure as roof claim costs have soared by nearly 30% since 2022. Driven by a mix of inflation, increasingly severe weather events, and higher material and labor costs, this spike is reshaping how insurers underwrite property risks and how policyholders experience the claims process. As roofing expenses climb, so too do premiums, deductibles, and underwriting scrutiny—leaving agents at the frontlines of a rapidly evolving conversation.

PSA: DFW had a storm last night as you know. Unless it is an immediate issue my recommendation is to reach out to your Insurance Agent this coming week to see what/if any steps need to take place. Most Insureds will be concerned with their Roof. Your Insurance Agent should be able to send a reputable roofer to assess the damage and determine if a claim needs to be filed. In non-emergency issues calling directly into the carrier can sometimes lead to claims on your history that should not necessarily be there. Reach out to your Agent for guidance. If it is an emergency and obvious go ahead and call into the carrier.
