First Irving
We are committed to making disciples, both locally and globally, for the Glory of God.
Church Family, Pastor Blair sent an important email to our church today about how this Sunday will be affected by the air conditioning outages we've experienced. We wanted to provide that letter below for those who may have missed his email.
---------
Dear Church Family,
Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ. I want to share an important update that will affect our ministries for this coming Lord’s Day. Earlier this week, we discovered that the air conditioning chiller which cools both the Family Life Center and the Kinkeade Building is no longer functioning properly. It requires a complete replacement of the control panel in order to restore cooling. Because of this, the preschool, children’s ministry, students, chapel, gym, fellowship hall, and adult spaces within the Family Life Center will be without air conditioning until early next week at the earliest.
By God’s gracious provision, we have located a replacement panel, placed the order, and, Lord willing, it will arrive early next week. Installation is already scheduled. Please join me in thanking Pastor Justin for his diligent efforts in tracking down this part at a good price. This is a reminder of God’s faithfulness in even small provisions (Phil. 4:19).
Here are a few important announcements regarding Sunday, July 20, 2025:
1. Because the Merritt Building cannot accommodate all displaced groups — including children, students, ABFs, and seminars — we will cancel the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour for all ages this Sunday.
2. Our worship service will continue as usual at 10:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary, where the air conditioning remains functional.
We have secured portable air conditioning units for every preschool room, preschool ministry will still be provided during the worship service.
3. Wayne’s retirement party at 3:00 p.m. will be moved to the HUB and Choir Room. Please make it a priority to attend this special time of celebration and thanksgiving.
4. We will have a members meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, where we will provide updates and share more detailed plans moving forward.
5. You may be wondering if it is possible to meet in your usual ABF classrooms during the education hour if your space is unaffected. Given the number of displaced groups, we kindly ask that everyone refrain from meeting during this hour to simplify logistics and foster unity in this temporary inconvenience.
So, on a Sunday when many are affected and one is being honored, let’s take to heart Paul’s words: “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together” (1 Cor. 12:26). This is a meaningful opportunity to live out the gospel by bearing one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2) and walking through this brief season of discomfort together—as one body in Christ.
While this situation is inconvenient, we can rest in the certainty of God’s presence with us. The Lord has been gracious and merciful to our church over the years, and Scripture assures us that He will continue to be our refuge and strength (Ps. 46:1). This Sunday, let us be especially thankful for the blessing of our Sanctuary—a beautiful place to gather around the Word and worship our God.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday as we worship Christ in all His glory.
Joyfully in Christ,
Blair
