The Great Commission was never meant to stop at church walls. Jesus sent us out into villages, under trees, into borrowed rooms to carry His Word to the people who haven't heard it yet.

That's what our Bible clubs are.

Each week, across Malawi, children gather to learn who Jesus is: that He sees them, that He loves them, that forgiveness is real and available to them.

Here is what $40 does in our programme.

It buys a full six-week supply of RUTF for one severely malnourished child, enough paste to carry them from the red zone back to green.
It covers our team's travel to that child's village for every follow-up visit during treatment.
It pays for the notebook where their progress is recorded and the phone call that tells us when something has changed.

It is not a large amount of money in most parts of the world but in Malawi, it is a complete recovery.

We have learned something from years of sports outreach: the best conversations happen after the final whistle.

When the game is done and the children are catching their breath, the noise settles. The guard that every child quietly carries due to hunger and difficulties at home is let down.

That is when we gather them. By age and we tell them what the yellow scarf says: that God sees them. Knows their name. Loves them without condition.

It is a short message. But it lands differently in a body that has just spent an hour being celebrated for how fast it can run.

The games aren't distractions from the Gospel. They are a preparation for it.

Jesus spoke these words after traveling from town to town, teaching in synagogues, proclaiming the good news, and healing those who were sick. When He looked at the crowds, He saw people in need and responded with compassion.

Every week, our team walks into villages across Malawi with that same heart. We set up nutrition assessments, teach families how to recognize the signs of malnutrition, provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to children who need it most, and walk alongside families through every step of a child's recovery.

Just as Jesus went to those who needed Him, our team goes to children who cannot come to us.

The harvest is still plentiful, and the need is still great. Every gift you give helps send another worker into the field, bringing hope, healing, and the chance for a healthier future to one more child.

Before a child recovers, someone has to find them.

That sounds simple. In practice, it means setting up a measuring station under a tree to carry out a nutrition assessment which sometimes gets 40 families and other times two hundred.

Each child gets the same attention: weight, height, MUAC tape. A few minutes. A conversation with the mother. A record of what we find.

For a child in the red zone, those few minutes are the turning point. Everything that comes next: the RUTF, the follow-up, the recovery, it all begins at that moment, with a number and a name written in a notebook.

Every nutrition assessment we run across Malawi is a door we open for a child who didn't know anyone was looking.

Today, Malawi celebrates 62 years of independence, and we couldn't be prouder.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also celebrate the remarkable progress the nation has made in the fight against child malnutrition.

According to the 2024 Malawi Demographic and Health Survey, the prevalence of acute malnutrition among children has fallen from 4.9% in 2016 to just 2% in 2024. Stunting malnutrition has also declined significantly from 55% in the early 1990s to 30% today and the numbers continue to move in the right direction.

We are grateful to be part of this journey, walking alongside families and communities as children reclaim their health, their strength, and their futures.

As Malawi marks 62 years of independence, we look ahead with hope that in the years to come, child malnutrition will become a thing of the past.
