Sumter Speedway doing driver intros highlighting one of our BDM Racing drivers!

Todd Knight is a 34 year old thunder bomber racer from Irmo. This will be he second year racing. He runs the number 47 because it is a combination of dates: the 4 from his and his wife's birthdays ( 14th and 24th) and the 7 from his daughters' birthdays (17th and 27th). He grew up at Sumter Speedway; from 2 years old Todd would be asleep in the bleachers by feature time and then he began helping a friend with his late model. As a show of appreciation, his friends bought him his first car, which he raced last year. He doesn't have any racing heroes but he enjoys pulling for several of the national touring guys, Brandon Overton, Tim Mcreadie, Tyler Erb to name a few. His most memorable racing moment was pulling off a 3rd place finish in the point championship during his rookie season. When handed a loss, Todd just jumps back in the shop and works to find more speed. He will also consult fellow competitors who are willing to help and share information t help him become a better racer all around; including setup and driving techniques. His family and friends push him to continue racing, especially is youngest daughter who LOVES being at the racetrack every week. His dad also keeps him motivated to race because they get to spend countless hours together in the shop, at the track and of course, celebrating the small victories and successes that have gone his way. Todd has two big racing superstitions: no green on race day and no peanuts in the pits. His favorite classes to watch are street stocks and super troopers.
We asked Todd if he was cheating and he replied "Heck, I ain't got enough money to cheat!" His favorite racing to watch includes good, clean close racing with sliders being through back and forth and 2, 3 4 and more wide racing. Outside of racing, Todd if a carpenter/general maintenance man and in his free time, he enjoys going to concerts, hunting and fishing. Todd's advice for the future generation, "I would say the best advice I could give to the future generation of racing is to never give up on your dream- it’s never too late! Be sure to surround yourself with knowledgeable and supportive people, and drive others the way you’d like to be driven!" As for rules, Todd would like to see the allowed use of some aftermarket bracing/support for parts that they use; just something to allot parts to last longer. He doesn't currently have any rivals, he told us that he is still very much a rookie!
