Meet our current adoptable guinea pigs!

When I adopted Kevin back at the beginning of summer, I knew that I wanted a whole ARMY of guinea pigs. But, let’s face it, We aren’t Masons’ Cavies, are we? Lol.

I starting thinking about how I could help. At first I thought about doing fleece accessories, but that only helps the pigs that have good homes. What about the pigs that DONT have good homes? They deserve a home that gives them tons of space and fleece accessories to be comfy in, too.

That’s how The Piggie Pen Rescue dream was born. Our mission is to find safe and happy homes for all of the animals that come to us. It’s sad to think that some of these pigs I had intended to keep, but if I don’t let them go I won’t be able to help other pigs.

If you would like to adopt one of these sweet babes, please fill out our adoption form on our link tree located under our contacts information.

Quite a bit has happened in the last week for this babe.
Right from the start, Penny knew something was wrong. During the time she was cleaning the babe up, she bit off two toes. After that, she refused to nurse it 90% of the time. Immediately we got replacement milk and have been supplementing with bottle feeding. On day two the baby developed a clouding over his eyes. Our vet diagnosed eye ulcers, gave us meds, and we thought we were good. The babe’s eyes have almost completely unclouded and I can tell he can see us now!
On day seven he’s hardly eating, isn’t playing or jumping like the other babies, and his bottom half is soaked in urine. As soon as our vet’s office opened this morning I called and got an urgent care appointment. The urgent care vet thinks it could be a UTI or an infection from the toes getting bitten off. On top of that, there’s a spot on top of its head that has been concerning me since birth. So, we’re doing antibiotic drops for the eye infection, SMZ for the possible UTI/foot infection, and critical care every 12 hours.
Please, y’all, send us all the healing vibes. I think there’s more than just an infection going on in this little babe’s body and I’m just hoping I’m not prolonging the inevitable. I know that’s terrible to think about, but I just don’t want him to be suffering. He just sits in the same spot 75% of the day like he doesn’t know what to do. He’s in a quarantine cage for now so I can monitor him closely. 🖤
