'Color Me Happy'

After completing the painting of my brushes, I figured i needed my paints. It is a lot of fun painting on a black background, it allows the subject to pop off of the canvas.

I love this painting, it was so much fun to paint. The idea, style and composition evolved quickly and effortlessly. I've owned this wooden monkey for over 20 years. I have him perched under a light and that is when the idea came. I started playing with the light and the shadows it casts, and I quickly found my composition. Dropping the image to the bottom corner created the perfect style. Completing this painting was the easy part. I really love this painting!
