Other than avoiding to spend my birthday in cold LA weather and choosing to celebrate it in the Philippines 🇵🇭, I was tasked directly by my Lolo before his death yrs ago to find our forgotten ancestral land that was owned by my great grandfather. This s**t was a stretch because I had to find it based on a screen shot of an advertisement flyer with no address in the Sorsogon, Bicol region. We had to ask the locals where it was at- It turns out we were right in front of it and the land stretched 16 football fields wide (wtf) lol.

On top of that the locals of Tabaco City found out I was in the area and convinced me to teach a dance workshop… This was the first dance class I’ve taught in 6 years lol.

Tabaco City and the Bicol region in general is one of the most relaxing places I’ve been to in the Philippines. And I’m not being biased because its where the majority of my ancestry is from- but the energy and vibes are super chill. Its become developed enough to communicate with the outside world but far enough from the cities to avoid the congestion.

And the food is probably some of the best I’ve had.

The Bicol region carries a certain spice that other parts of the Philippine islands don’t have and I’ve had nothing close to Bicolano food anywhere else.

Maybe its because Bicolano food has a strong emphasis on vegetables or maybe its because everything is grown, farmed and fished straight to table. All I can say is everything I tasted, touched and felt was 100% real unlike the world we’re living on here 🤳.
