Thursday means another episode of The Heart of Teaching Music is out now! You can listen on YouTube and all major audio platforms.

In this episode, Julia and Scott talk with two members of the Board of Directors of Pride Bands Alliance: President Marek Szeszycki and DEIAB Director Patrice Mustaafaa. Pride Bands Alliance is an international network of over 40 LGBTQ+ and allied member and partner organizations dedicated to creating spaces where people can live their truth out loud through music, visibility, and pride. They talk about music as a vehicle for community and belonging, their own musical journeys, and leadership in community ensembles.

Thank you to GIA Publications, Inc. Music Education Division for sponsoring this episode. Learn more about GIA’s music education offerings, including Julia and Scott’s personal favorites, here: giamusic.com/hotm

Some people are born to be leaders, others have leadership thrust upon them...right? Although it's important to develop leadership in the students who are natural leaders, who may be more extraverted and outgoing, leadership expert Patrick Mainieri encourages music educators to invite more introverted students into leadership spaces as well. Any student can thrive as a leader!

All high school students are encouraged to sign up for Leadership Weekend at the BOA Summer Camp, where they learn to reach beyond and unlock their full potential.
