When the fine folks at asks you if you want to work on some items for the Planescape DM vault you immediately say yes. It’s that simple.

In addition to the importance of the original setting’s content and artwork, the graphic design of Planescape was also a style that you didn’t really see from TSR in the AD&D 2nd Edition design language.

After we designed the modern D&D style tin, we decided to lean in to the 90s era for the ephemera. We played with a lot of quintessential 90s typefaces. .licko’s Filosofia Unicase became the main voice of Margie’s Memory Tracker. The tourism brochure for the city of Sigil (“City of Doors”) juxtaposed more Emigre greats with ‘s early 2000s font output (yes, I know—cheating, but they’re SO good) to give voice to all the different aspects of a city that contains doors to all of the Multiverse.

And, after that bonkers brochure, we decided to end the project with some Art Deco influences for the Memory Restoration workbook, because we’d run out of design rules to break.

We finished the last two episodes of Faster, Purple Worm, Kill! Kill! And the folks at created something truly unique with this series. Proud to have made the tiniest of contributions—a postcard for the “beta test” that inspired the final logo and a handout for Charlie’s game (S1 E3, Everyone Dies on a Lightning Train). It’s been a delight to watch this every week—usually after fighting with and then ritually sacrificing something to the Plex app—and we’re crossing our fingers the show will return for a second season.
