The 2026 ISCA Senior & Women’s Championships were held April 18–19 in Pendleton, IN, set against a scenic and welcoming venue that made for a great weekend of chess.
In the Women’s Championship, Gaayathri Binoj captured clear 1st with a perfect 3/3, followed by Madison Brown in 2nd & Aikaterini Gratsea in 3rd.
In the Senior Championship, James Mills took 1st place with 3.0/4. A highly competitive field saw a five-way tie for 2nd place at 2.5 points, with David Airey & Lester VanMeter taking 2nd and 3rd on tiebreaks.
As the top Senior Indiana resident, Mills has qualified for the Irwin Invitational, to be held alongside the US Open in Grand Rapids, MI (August 3–6, 2026).
During the event, Nate Criss was also awarded the Hoosier Chess Tour Winner Trophy for his outstanding 2025–2026 season, finishing ahead of 158 other participants!
Special thanks to Ron Carrell & his family for their outstanding hospitality, including excellent food, plenty of snacks and beverages that helped make the event even more enjoyable for all participants.
