π₯ Itβs been an action-packed couple of weeks at the training grounds!
Our facilities have been running at full capacity, hosting multiple agencies. Here is a look at whatβs been happening:
π’ IFD Academy: For the last two weeks, their recruits have been hitting the tower, focusing on standpipe and high-rise operations.
π Speedway Fire Department: Speedway companies were on-site conducting company drills
π₯ Greenwood Fire Academy: Greenwood recruits faced live burn evolutions, putting their classroom knowledge to the ultimate test.
It's great seeing our partners training hard and utilizing the facility to its fullest. Excellent work by all the recruits, crews, and instructors involved! π€

Today the Area 31 students learned downed firefighter packaging, as well as how to get a firefighter out of gear quickly to perform CPR.
These are both critical training scenarios that firefighters must know how to do for RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) calls.
Every engine/ladder should be equipped with RIT capabilities in case order of assignment (depending on area) puts them as RIT on arrival at any working fire.

Today Area 31 students worked on forcible entry, and fire attack.
Attack is performed traditionally by an engine crew, forcible entry is traditionally performed by the truck companies, but in rural areas and smaller fire departments often both are performed by engine crews.
Regardless of assignment, always stay up on skills, you never know when you may need them!
