Imagine building a custom car in your garage in 1952, taking it to the Motorama, and inadvertently giving Carroll Shelby the name for his most legendary creation. 🤯
That’s the story of the Hansen Cobra. Wally and Harry Hansen knew metal shaping was too limiting, so they turned to a brand-new material in 1952: fiberglass. They built a custom steel chassis, dropped in a 235-horsepower Cadillac V8, and used the rear window of a ’53 Studebaker as the windshield.
After spending half a century in the Petersen Automotive Museum, this landmark piece of car culture just sold for $145,600 at Kruse Auctions. 🔨
