Hey Geeks!
It’s been way to long so I want to update you as quick as possible but please, bear with me here. To start, from February of last year to this time last year I was very sick. I spent a bit over 2 weeks in the hospital and at least another month bed bound at home. I have congestive heart failure and more than one lung disease and they can snowball out of control quickly and my broken arm started that snowball in a hurry. Thankfully by the end of May I started to rebound. We kept the store running slow so I could focus on recovery. In September we began to slowly start ramping up the store in prep for peak holiday shopping, our favorite time. All was going well until October 8th, 2019 when my cousin, my best friend, part of my heart and soul that will never return, passed away. To say I was devastated is an understatement. In that moment If not for knowing I had David who I could never leave, and Aiden who is still growing up and needs me, and yes of course my other family but I’m trying to keep it short, I don’t think I could have found a way to keep going on. It’s been 7 months and I’m just now starting to MAYBE get some normalcy. My first thought was, reopen my store. It’d keep me busy, AND it’s something I absolutely love doing. When everything happened in October, I had 3 open orders I refunded all 3. Then I put my store into vacation mode. I learned that setting up vacation mode was a must have after my coma in 2017. When I turn on vacation mode it automatically sends out an email to certain customers, I wrote it years ago it says, in short, “the ownsers of that geek gallery have temporarily shut down their store, likely due to illness/hospitalization or some other serious complication of life. You have been fully refunded and when the store reopens you will be given 15% off anything, we hope to be back soon.” That email went out to those with active orders that hasn’t shipped yet but if you sent a message to us on eBay at all, you got that auto reply. This led to 3 people reporting me and my metrics fell too low. Low metrics plus me taking such a long break led to eBay being less than helpful. Also because I fell below standards when I went into a coma (which I quickly fixed that!) They did give me a probation possibility to get my account back, but it’d be a minimum of 6 months. I’d have to pay my store fee for 6 months without being able to make the money to afford the store fee. So I’m really bummed out. I’m looking into other ways, and I will let you all know as soon as I as I do! I love this store too much to give up that easily!
PS please don’t contact on my behalf. I found another customer support team that is supposedly much better so I’ll try them!
Much Love, Stay Geeky, And stay safe!
