Noon Academy is a teaching platform with a focus in tutoring and teaching Arabic and English language skills, in reading, writing, and communication. We pleasure ourselves in creating a curriculum that focuses on individual needs and understanding. We aim to teach and provide our students with high quality language education and the confidence needed to use the skills learned in class within their
communities. Our goal at Noon Academy is to create an environment for individuals from all backgrounds to come together and create a bond through learning. We pride ourselves in creating an online learning platform for individuals who crave to learn, yet do not have the time or the resources. As of October 2022, Noon Academy has registered students from the US and the Middle East. Our goal is to expand further to other parts of the world. Who founded Noon Academy and why? Noon Academy was founded on the basis of education, by Hamas Abusneineh, an immigrant from Amman, Jordan, with Arabic as her first language. She was a recent graduate from the University of Jordan, and new to the US. In 2012, Hamas received a Bachelorโs of Arts in Islamic Jurisprudence, also known as Islamic Studies. Her mission started with the goal to learn English for herself, but soon after becoming a mother, she knew she needed to learn the language to be able to teach her children adequate English grammar and communication skills. She dreamed of a future for her kids to be able to withhold a strong Muslim Arab American identity, all the while living in a society where Muslim Arabs are a minority. To do this, she knew she had to focus on making sure her kids had a strong understanding of their Islamic beliefs and values as well as their Arab culture, including language and traditions. In coming to the United States, Hamas noticed a large gap in practical language learning resources for immigrants, which enticed her on her mission. She quickly realized that to learn proper communication skills, she needed to incorporate herself into American society, which lead her to enrolling in high school. After completing her High School diploma, she taught in the American Public School system for three years where she adapted to not only proper communication, but also the slang of Gen-Zโs and millennials at large. She then furthered her education by earning her CDA (Children Development Association) certification. In the societal gap between Born-Americans and immigrants, Hamas realized there was many biases and stereotypes. Both in the way Americans taught English to foreigners and in the way foreigners learned from Americans. She found an underlying fear of cultural assimilation and a fear of making a mistake in front of native speakers. What does Noon Academy consist of? Noon Academy consists of four sections in which students are able to learn Arabic communication skills, Arabic grammar and reading, Quranic memorization and recitation, as well as Islamic Studies. By learning each section in detail, students will be able to expand their intercultural communication skills and abilities within the Arabic language.
